Citizenship



Citizenship :
              The Constitution of India provides a single citizenship for whole of the India.
              The Citizenship Act, 1955, deals with matters relating to  acquisition, determination and termination of Indian citizenship after the commencement of the Constitution.
              Every person who was at the commencement of the Constitution (26 January 1950 ) domiciled in the territory of India and  : (a) who born in India ; or (b) either of whose parents was born In India ; or  (c) who has been ordinarily resident in India for not less than 5 years became a citizen of India.

Introduction of Indian Polity



1.       Introduction :
                   Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 adopted the Constitution which came into force on 26 January 1950.
                  The President of India  is constitutional head of executive of the Union. Article 74 (1) of the constitution provides that there shall be a Council of Ministers with the Prime Minister as head to  aid and  advise President who shall in exercise of his functions, act in accordance with such advice. Real executive powers thus vests in Council of Ministers Prime Minister as head.
                   Council of Ministers is collectively responsible to the House of the People (Lok Sabha). Similarly, in state  Governor is head of executive , but it is the Council of Ministers with Chief Minister as head in whom real executive power vests.  Council of Ministers of a state is collectively responsible to the Legislative Assembly.
                  Constitution of India distributes legislative powers between the Parliament and  the State Legislatures by keeping residual powers with  the Parliament. Power to amend  the constitution also vests with Parliament.
                 India comprises of 28 States and 7 Union Territories.

INDIAN POLITY CHRONOLOGICAL FACTS



Here we provide the chronological facts and incidents 1600 when the East Indian Company was started in India to 1947 when Lord Mountbatten planned for India’s Freedom.

1600: East India Company was setup.  

1611: William Hawkins visited India in the court of Jahangir during Mughal period.

1615-1618: Thomas Row visited the court of Jahangir during Mughal period.

1757: The Battle of Plassey was fought.

1764: Battle of Buxar was fought.

1765: Industrial revolution in England

1765: East India Company acquired ‘dewani’ from Mughal emperor Shah Alam II.

1773: Indian Regulatory Act passed. By this act the post of Governor General was created and Judiciary was separated from the executive (administration).


1774: Imperial Court was setup by this Indian Regulatory Act of 1773 A.D.
