Plant Protection



                            The field of Plant Protection encompasses primarily activities aimed at minimizing crop losses due pests and diseases, promotion of sustainability management practices like integrated pest Management of pesticides, preservation of bio- safety and capacity building of all stakeholders.
·         The following schemes are being implemented :

i)                    Strengthening and Modernization of pest Management Approach in the country (SMPMA): A central sector scheme being implemented by DAC, through Directorates of Plant Protection Quarantine and Storage (DPPQ&S), Faridabad during XIIth plan and has three components namely, Integrated Pest Management, Locust Control and Research and Implementation of Insecticide Act, 1968. 

ii)                   Strengthening and Modernization of Plant Quarantine facilities in India.

iii)                 National Institute of Plant Health Management, Hyderabad (NIPHM)

iv)                 Monitoring of Pesticide Residues at National Level
